The deadline for issuing an Import Approval (IA) has now expired. No more IA’s will be issued under this scheme.
As you can imagine we do get many emails and phone calls. To save time for all of us, we have tried to answer the most common enquiries in the following – PLEASE READ THESE BEFORE YOU EMAIL OR CALL US.
Frequently Asked Questions –
Q. Which Mini’s can you comply? A. Due to the changes in legislation, the ROVER MINI is no longer eligible as a SEVS import. Prior to this our evidence was for both the MPI (multi point injected) and SPI (single point injected Rover Mini from 1997 – 2000. We could do the manual and auto transmission models of these years.
Q. Are there any Mini’s that can’t be complied? A. All non SRS equipped cars built in 1996 were not eligible. These are from VIN ending 122845 to 134454
Q. Why is this so? A. ADR69 (airbag rule) was introduced for new models on January 1st 1996 and the Mini was not equipped with SRS until the MY97 model in September 1996. The 1st MY97 car is VIN ending 134455
Q. How much is it to comply a Rover Mini? A. NO LONGER RELEVANT
Q. Is the car able to be registered anywhere? A. Once complied the SEVS cars are eligible to be registered in all Australian States and Territories. These have a red coloured compliance sticker fitted.
Q. Do they come registered? A. If you purchase a used Mini from our stock it will come with NSW rego. If you are not in NSW, you will have to organise registration with your local authorities. The vehicle will come with all the relevant documentation to enable this to take place.
Q. Can you tell me when my injected Mini was built? A. Yes, we hold the production dates for all Rover Mini from 1995 onwards.
Q. Do you have Mini’s available in stock? A. Yes we do. Please see our Minis For Sale page for information on cars we have in stock.
Q. Is my Mini affected by the TAKATA airbag recall? A. No MY97 onwards Mini was fitted with a TAKATA airbag from the factory so therefore in standard trim they are not affected.
Q. I have seen some cars advertised online that weren’t complied under SEVES but under the “25 year old scheme”. Have these been modified correctly? A. We have seen numerous cars that have not had all the necessary modifications completed and therefore have needed additional work to be registered in other States. In one case a VIC registered 97 model needed thousands of dollars spent to complete the modifications, this was despite it being issued with a “modification certificate” and full VIC rego which the seller claimed was “all that was needed to register the car in NSW”
